California Department of Technology was honored with two Best of California awards at the California Digital Government Summit. The annual awards honor efforts in a broad range of areas across the public sector technology community.
CDT’s Project Management Leadership Academy (PMLA) was given the award for “Most Innovative IT Workforce Initiative.” The 11-week program focuses on developing project management and leadership skills for IT professionals across state government. CDT’s approach to academies differs from traditional training by using a blended approach. Traditional classroom training is supplemented by mentoring and internship components. After a tremendously successful inaugural cohort in 2017, PMLA is now gearing up for the 2018 kick off on October 4.
CDT was also honored as a winner in the “Best IT Collaboration Among Organizations” category for its role in the implementation of the Medicinal and Adult-Use Cannabis Regulation Act. The department shared this award with our critical partners at the Bureau of Cannabis Control, Department of Food and Agriculture and the Department of Public Health. CDT supported these three departments as they each embarked on the challenging task of launching licensing systems for medical and adult use cannabis on very short timelines. Each department’s system was online before the December 31, 2017 deadline and CDT continues to assist the departments in bringing additional capabilities online.
We’re proud of the great work our employees perform each and every day and are thrilled that these two projects earned well deserved recognition.
