California Department of Technology to Demonstrate Mobil Apps and GIS Services at State Fair

The Department of Technology has been working closely with the State Fair to increase the presence of Information Technology (IT) within the fairgrounds. The Enterprise Solutions and Geographic Information Systems Divisions will have a display at Cal Expo during the State Fair on July 15th and 22nd to display the California Mobile Gallery and GIS services to the public.

The California Department of Technology will demonstrate resources available to the public through the California Mobile Gallery and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) services.

The California Mobile Gallery is a one-stop shop for over 40 public facing apps developed by State departments/agencies that provide a variety of services and information to the public. These apps include current traffic conditions, locations of recycling facilities, boating facilities, to name a few.

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) allows the public to discover and visualize information, identify patterns, and evaluate trends through the use of data. What used to be merely numbers within a spreadsheet can now been seen on a map and allow citizens, and business, to make informed decisions by visualizing data and information through the state’s GeoPortal and mapping services.
