The California Technology Agency’s Office of Information Security will host its annual IT Security Awareness Fair on October 2nd this year. The event will jump start California’s participation in the National Cyber Security Awareness Month campaign observed each October, and is designed to raise community awareness about cyber security threats and more importantly mitigation strategies, solutions and best practices.

The California Technology Agency’s Office of Information Security is lining up notable speakers for its October 2nd IT Security Awareness Fair. Among them is Dr. Ron Ross, Fellow at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). His current areas of specialization include information security and risk management. Dr. Ross leads the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) Implementation Project, is the principal architect of the Risk Management Framework, and leads the Joint Task Force Transformation Initiative, a partnership with NIST, the Department of Defense, the Intelligence Community, the Office of the Director National Intelligence, and the Committee on National Security Systems to develop a unified information security framework for the federal government.

Each and every one of us needs to do our part to make sure that our online lives are kept safe and secure. That’s what National Cyber Security Awareness Month—observed in October 2012—is all about!
