SACRAMENTO – Governor Brown announced the appointments of Adam Dondro, Mary Winkley and Karen Wong today.  Dondro will serve as assistant secretary of external affairs; Winkley will serve as assistant secretary of program and portfolio management; and Wong will serve as the director of the public safety communications office.

“Adam, Mary and Karen bring many years of dedicated public service to these positions.  They are extraordinary additions to the Technology Agency team,” said Secretary Carlos Ramos.  “I look forward to working with them to continue the Agency’s mission of partnership, collaboration and innovation to best meet the needs of Californians.”

Adam Dondro was appointed as assistant secretary of external affairs at the California Technology Agency. Since 2010, Dondro served as acting deputy director of external affairs at the California Technology Agency. From 2006 to 2010, he served as a budget committee consultant for the Assembly Committee on Budget. He also previously served as a legislative aide for Assembly Member John Laird.

Mary Winkley was appointed as assistant secretary of program and portfolio management at the California Technology Agency.  Since 2009, Winkley has served as deputy secretary of state for information technology and policy at the Secretary of State’s Office.  She was chief deputy director of operations at the California Department of Public Health from 2007 to 2008, partner at MGT of America from 1999 to 2007, chief of staff for Assembly Member Alan Lowenthal from 1998 to 1999, and a principal consultant in the Legislative Analyst’s Office on the information technology assignment from 1997 to 1998. She served as a senior consultant to Assembly Member Debra Bowen from 1992 to 1997.

Karen Wong was appointed director of the public safety communications office at the California Technology Agency. Since 2009, Wong has served deputy director of public safety communications office at the California Technology Agency. She has served in several positions with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation including deputy director of administrative services in the heath care division from 2007 to 2009, a program administrator for the office of correctional safety from 2006 to 2007, assistant secretary and deputy director at the office of risk management and environmental health and safety 2002 to 2006 and chief of the telecommunications branch.
