As we reflect on the solemn occasion of the 10th anniversary of 9/11, the California Technology Agency would like to take this opportunity to thank the State’s public safety’s first responders. California’s first responders perform heroic acts daily whether its responding to 9-1-1 calls, fighting fires, or keeping our highways safe, they make California a safer place to live. At the Technology Agency, the Public Safety Communications Office is dedicated to supporting our first responders by providing effective and efficient public safety communications. Through partnerships and collaboration we continue to work toward an integrated interoperable radio communications system, upgrading the State’s microwave network from analog to digital, and one of our biggest challenges, bringing the State’s 9-1-1 system into the next generation that will accept multi-media communications including text messaging, photos and videos. We all know through the lessons learned from 9/11 – communications is vital when responding to emergencies. At the Technology Agency, we are committed to supporting our first responders and will continue to improve the State’s public safety communications networks.
