This week, the National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) released a survey that highlights the coming wave of retirements among IT professionals in state governments across the U.S.
While many states reported that between 21 and 30 percent of state IT employees will be eligible to retire, California has much higher figures. Up to fifty percent of our state IT workforce will be of retirement age within the next five years.
Among other findings, the NASCIO survey also says that the recession has caused many state workers to postpone retirement.
